MFZpro-200 Flail Mower/Mulcher with Offset

(1 customer review)

The MFZpro-200 Professional Side-Shift Flail Mower is built for operators who want maximum coverage per pass with a clean finish. Designed for 55–80 HP tractors, it pairs a 78.7″ working width with a 20.5″ hydraulic side-shift so you can mow along fences, under trees, and around obstacles with ease.

With forged toothed hammer flails (16 flails) and a smooth 2295 RPM rotor on SKF bearings, it reliably mulches tall growth and prunings, including branches up to 2″. Add replaceable counter blades and a rear service gate, and you get finer mulch with faster access for cleaning and maintenance.

The MFZpro-200 Professional Side-Shift Flail Mower delivers true “one mower” capability for tractors that need more coverage per pass, built for 55–80 HP with CAT I (CAT II bushings included) three-point hitch. With a 78.7″ working width and 20.5″ hydraulic side-shift, you can mow further to the right of the tractor—making it easy to work around trees, fence posts, and signs without constantly steering the tractor.

The MFZpro series is especially suited for fruit and wine growing, nurseries, and any property where prunings and woody residue are on the ground and need to be mulched. It can be used effectively on medium areas with growth up to ~39.4″ that may only need mowing a few times per year. Woody material up to 2″ (50 mm) is reliably shredded by forged, toothed hammer flails (MFZpro-200 uses 16 flails, about 2.6 lb each).

Power flows through a reinforced Comer free-wheel gearbox and a 4-belt drive into a fast, smooth rotor (2295 RPM) supported by SKF bearings in CNC bearing seats with stainless grease nipples for quick service. MFZpro also includes replaceable counter blades and a rear service gate to improve mulching performance and simplify maintenance.

Hydraulic Side Shift

20.5″ Hydraulic Side-Shift
Shift the mower 20.5″ to the right to mow under fences and around trees, posts, and signs with less steering—ideal for orchards, vineyards, and field edges.

Forged Toothed Hammer Flails

Forged Toothed Hammer Flails
Forged toothed hammer flails are built to mulch tall grass, dense growth, and prunings, reliably handling branches up to 2″ in diameter.

Spiral Rotor Layout

Spiral Rotor Layout
The spiral flail arrangement improves material flow across the rotor for more consistent shredding and smoother operation in mixed vegetation.

Comer Gearbox and Belt Drive

Comer Gearbox + 4-Belt Drive
A reinforced freewheel gearbox and 4-belt drive deliver dependable power transfer and help reduce shock loads when disengaging the PTO.

SKF Bearings and CNC Seats

SKF Bearings in CNC Seats
SKF rotor bearings sit in CNC-machined bearing housings for a precise fit and long service life, with accessible grease points for routine maintenance.

Service Gate and Counter Blades

Service Gate + Counter Blades
A large rear service gate speeds cleaning and access, while replaceable counter blades help chop clippings finer for faster breakdown.

Two-Year Warranty

The MFZpro-200 Professional Side-Shift Flail Mower (SKU: VTI-MFZPRO200) has been rigorously tested to withstand tough conditions and includes a two-year warranty on the machine.

  1. Very good heavy duty flail at a significantly better price than competing models. Here are my thoughts after about 30 hours of use.

    Pros:
    1. Arrived in great condition with no missing parts and was easy to assemble.
    2. Hydraulic shift works well and I didn’t need a flow reducer valve.
    3. On a 65 HP tractor it easily powers through 6′ tall grass. Unless you are cutting large areas of heavy brush, you should be safe at the minimum HP rating for this flail.

    Cons:
    1. The frame the top-link connects to could use more reinforcement. There is a lot of torque on it when you lift the implement, and you can see in the photo it gets canted to the front. The bolts are tightened as much as they will go without bending the tube.

    2. The design of the knives traps clumps of grass on the sides which seem to throw off the balance of the rotor slightly and introduce some minor vibration in the PTO shaft.

    3. The steel angle used as a roller scraper on the rear is too thin and positioned too close to the ground, so it bends easily. You MUST lift the unit up when reversing. Be especially careful reversing on steep hills. I hit the ground even at full lift height and badly bent the scraper. Because the top-link attachment point is a slot to allow movement with ground contour and due to the issue in #1 above, even at full lift height the rear end sags quite a bit.

Overall I am happy with the unit, especially considering the price. None of the cons stop me from getting the job done. It’s well suited for a rough cut field maintaining machine and is more compact than a rotary cutter. When cutting very tall grass with thick-stem weeds that get laid over, you will likely need a second pass in the opposite direction to get everything, but I think that would be true of any flail. Just don’t expect to make a single pass and have a perfect finish cut, no matter how slowly you go.
